Jamila Dawson

Jamila Dawson is a sexologist and sex therapist. Born and raised in Southern California, she has also lived and studied in Paris, France, which shaped her view of the impact of culture on the individual. Her clinical and professional work is heavily influenced by liberation psychology and embodied social justice practices.

For the last 10 years, Ms. Dawson has worked on the front lines of pleasure-based sexuality education. She is skilled in the design and implementation of trainings on sexual wellness and alternative sexuality populations. She has presented at universities, mental health organizations, and conferences such as Antioch University, the Relational Center, and the Esalen Institute. Ms. Dawson is also a proud member of the BDSM and polyamorous communities in Los Angeles and has served on the board of the non-profit kink organization, the Threshold Society. Her particular clinical and research interests are the experiences and relational wellness of kinky, queer, and/or polyamorous people of color.
